Agronomy Positions


Precision Technologies Specialist Position Open Immediately

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented person to be a part of the team that supports, provides leadership, and promotes the proper use of precision Ag for our retail locations ultimately building relationships that help grow sales for Harvest Land Co-op. The successful candidate will work with our YieldPro team to: 

  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend methods to implement precision technology
    information and sales. 
  • Assist in the marketing of technology enhanced products and services.
  • Present recommended application maps to customers and Ag Centers.
  • Interpret and analyze soil sample results for customers and serves as a back-up to our Analysts during high volume periods if needed. 
  • Provide customers' crop record keeping compliance programs.
  • Assist with annual YieldPro informational meetings relative to soil testing, field mapping, product recommendations, co-ordination of timely and accurate application, field monitoring, record keeping, and follow-up calls.
  • Assist Sales Specialists with team selling activities as they relate to precision technologies. 
  • Assist other Harvest Land departments and divisions in exploring and implementing precision technologies to help them meet the company mission and goals, while providing their customers with excellent service. 
  • Assist in the calibration of Harvest Land's variable rate application equipment and exploring new ways to utilize the technology on the farms.

Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or 10 years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This person needs to be highly proficient in analyzing new technology, have high customer service standards, possess the ability to find and implement new technologies and processes, all while working within a team atmosphere and supporting our sales group.  They will also need a Valid Driver's License, a current DOT Physical, a clear criminal background check and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and be a Certified Crop Advisor or ability to obtain within 5 years of start date.

Precision Soil Sampler Position Open For Fall 

We are currently seeking 7 Precision Soil Sampler for our YieldPro Precision Department.  The successful candidates should have a basic understanding or interest in agronomy. They should possess the ability to operate state of the art equipment, read and fulfill work orders, conduct basic calculations, communicate with the Precision team, and be conscientious as they pull geo-referenced soil samples.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Continuously follows the safety guidelines and safety programs established by the Harvest Land Co-op and

  • Performs required and requested maintenance on the equipment (RTV/truck/trailer). 
  • Pulls soil samples according to departmental procedures ensuring efficient and accurate geo-referenced sampling. 
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and daily reports, etc. 

Successful candidates will also need a valid driver's license, a good driving record, a clear criminal background check and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical.   This is a seasonal position, 40+ hours per week through December, weather and season permitting.

Agronomy Specialist II

We are currently seeking an agronomy sales specialist for southern Delaware County and Henry County in Indiana to promote the proper use of crop protection products, plant food, seed and other services offered at Harvest Land Co-op to area producers by building customer relationships that help grow agronomy sales for Harvest Land Co-op.  Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Promotes and supports the Yield Pro Agronomy program
  • Develops annual farmer/customer programs (Yield Pro) that include soil testing, field mapping, product recommendations, timely and accurate application, field monitoring as needed, record keeping, and follow up calls
  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads and executes individual customer sales strategies
  • Executes sales calls with regular and prospective customers to solicit orders
  • Adheres to Harvest Land's pricing policies and credit policy
  • Interprets soil sample results and makes fertilizer application recommendations
  • Prepares reports as requested by the Ag Center Manager
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times
  • Provides outstand and courteous customer service

Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four year college or university; or 10 years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Applicator I (Versailles, Ohio and Wilkinson, IN)

We are currently seeking 2 Applicators to perform custom applications at our Versailles, Ohio facility and our Wilkinson, Indiana facility.  Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Implements, promotes and supports the Yield Pro agronomy program
  • Precisely blends and custom applies fertilizers and agricultural chemicals based on recommendations and label directions
  • Performs jobs safely and in compliance with environmental regulations
  • Maintains facility and equipment so that they have a good appearance and always in working condition
  • Completes applicator logs and reports
  • Keeps the Ag Center Manager informed of product inventory levels that could restrict application or delivery schedules
  • Keeps the Ag Center Manager informed of operational, customer, and vendor issues that may arise
  • Loads and unloads inbound and outbound inventory

Qualified candidates should have high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Candidates will also need a valid CDL license with required endorsements, an applicator license that meets the minimum compliance requirements of the regulatory state in which the applicator operates, a good driving record, a clear criminal background check, and the ability to pass a physical and pre-employment drug screen.

  Energy Division - Liquid Fuels/LP Manager


We are currently seeking a detail oriented person to manage our liquid fuels and propane department in Monroe, Indiana - Adams County.  Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversees and supervises plant personnel on day to day operations and training so that tasks are performed properly and safely
  • Responsible for conducting performance appraisals and provides developmental or corrective coaching necessary for direct reports
  • Controls inventories for proper seasonal levels
  • Prepares facility budgets and product purchasing forecasts
  • Helps develops sales programs and pricing policies
  • Oversees compliance at the Petroleum Department location regarding governmental regulations and safety
  • Carries out Harvest Land's compliance with "Duty to Warn" obligations with existing and new customers
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times
  • Provides outstanding and courteous customer service.  Supports and communicates the Harvest Land Credit Policy to customers

Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four year college or university; or 10 years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2015 Field Techs Needed


Our 2014 Summer Field Tech Interns will began their experience by learning about corn, soybean, wheat, and alfalfa growth stages, weeds, diseases, and insects. Over the next several weeks they will continue to expand their education. They will also gain insight into a fulltime career, develop a professional network, and build confidence and professional character, all while making observations and decisions that are incredibly practical, important and meaningful to our producers. Our 2014 Internship is filled, however, we will begin interviewing in October for the 2015 Internship program.
